Jasmine Lotfy is a multidisciplinary visual artist and storyteller from Los Angeles, California, and Alexandria, Egypt. Residing between the two cities, her work is influenced by her cultural background and upbringing. Born to an Egyptian father and Syrian mother, she spent her early years navigating between Egypt, Syria, and Los Angeles—raised between contrasting cultures, the East and West, where diversity was always accompanied by a lingering sense of disconnection from the concept of home. Through her photography, she captures the exploration of identity and belonging, tracing a journey that ultimately reconnects her with her Arab identity. Her recent work focuses more intentionally on the Arab diaspora, while also reflecting on the diverse communities that shaped her upbringing in Los Angeles.
Jasmine seeks to weave a continuous thread between her earlier projects and present work, allowing her artistic evolution to emerge organically through both visual and conceptual storytelling. Built on a foundation in fashion and street photography, her practice has grown to reflect a deepening interest in documentary and culturally rooted narratives. She continues to explore themes of identity and place through a lens shaped by personal experience and artistic growth.
